Personal Injury Practice

Robert Edwards, for the past 25 years, has specialized in personal injury and wrongful death claims and trials. This includes:

  • Automobile accidents. Car crashes are by far the most common causes of injury requiring legal assistance. It is particularly complicated in Minnesota, due to the No-Fault Act, and in Arizona, due to problems with health insurance liens. Common types of car accident claims include:
    • No-Fault Accidents
    • Bodily Injury claims
    • Uninsured or underinsured motorist
    • Drunk Driving collisions
    • Hit and Run accidents
    • Pedestrian injuries
    • Truck or Semi-Truck collisions
  • Construction site accidents. Workers’ compensation usually pays for a significant portion of the damages in construction site accidents. However, additional damages can be awarded if an employee of one contractor is injured as the result of the negligence of an employee of another contractor. This second contractor can be sued, and the employee can recover damages above and beyond what workers’ compensation provides.
  • Slip and fall cases. These are particularly difficult cases, particularly if the slip and fall occurs as a result of ice or snow in Minnesota. We have been successful in recovering money for injured people in these kinds of cases by establishing that the hazardous condition was the result of a building code violation by the landowner.
  • No-Fault Claims. In Minnesota, no-fault car accident or other no-fault claims are very common. No-Fault automobile accidents can often leave you confused as to your rights to a fair settlement benefit. Usually an insurance company cuts off benefits based on a bogus "independent" medical examination. Damages can include medical expense, disability and income loss benefits, replacement services and loss. Our lawyers win approximately 85% of these cases on behalf of our clients.
  • Wrongful death cases. Any time someone is killed due to someone else's carelessness, the heirs of the deceased have the rights to claim damages for such things as loss of support, loss of aid, comfort, companionship and guidance, etc. Wrongful death cases have a shorter statute of limitations than for general negligence, so an attorney's immediate help is mandatory. We can help you navigate the complex legal process of a wrongful death suit.
  • Dangerous or defective products. Manufacturers both in the United States and overseas continue to flood the market with products which contain hidden hazards. These types of cases are expensive and complex to undertake. Generally the plaintiff must have a catastrophic injury before such a case becomes worth pursuing.
  • Dog bite cases. It is a myth that every dog gets one free bite. Nothing could be further from the truth in Minnesota or Arizona. Dog bites are a serious personal injury claim that should always receive legal counsel. Contrary to popular belief, dog bite cases have clear legal implications and consequences. The only defense to a dog bite case is that the victim provoked the dog, or that the victim was trespassing.
  • Insurance policy disputes. Many times people who purchase insurance have certain expectations as to what coverage they should get. If you feel as though you are being taken advantage of, you are probably correct. Insurance companies are great at collecting premiums, but not quite so good at paying claims. We can help you navigate the often complicated objections that arise when seeking compensation from your insurance company.
  • Motorcycle accidents. Far too often motorcyclists are involved in serious accidents simply because automobile drivers do not pay attention. They are expecting other cars, and not expecting motorcycles. Oftentimes the injuries from motorcycle accidents can be very serious and require the assistance of an attorney, particularly given the significant medical bills that often arise from these kinds of cases.

Because this firm has had over 25 years of experience in these types of cases, you can rest assured that the advice you will get will be sound, complete, and prompt. Contact us or call today to receive a free consultation on your personal injury claims.
